The Tompkins Cortland Community College men's soccer team was eliminated from the NJCAA playoffs Thursday. The Panthers lost 7-0 in the semifinal round to top-seeded and nationally ranked Genesee Community College. The defeat ends the season with a record of 9-8 for the Panthers, while Genesee advances to the championship with a record of 16-2-1.

The Panthers had chances early, but most of the day belonged to Genesee. The Cougars scored in the eighth minute of the game and added a second in the 22nd minute. The halftime score of 2-0 ballooned to 5-0 when Genesee scored three times in the first ten minutes of the second half. Goals in the 67th and 70th minutes made the final 7-0.

Despite the disappointing ending, the season had several positive moments. Six different players reached double-figures in points, including two who recorded hat tricks. Three different goalkeepers earned wins, combining for six shutouts. The Panthers put together win streaks of three and four games, outscoring their opponents 26-3 during those spans, and the team capped the season by advancing to the semifinal round of the playoffs for the first time since 2013.
