Early Goals Propel Panthers to Win

A pair of goals in the first ten minutes of the game proved to be all the Tompkins Cortland Community College men's soccer team needed as the Panthers posted a 2-0 win at Jamestown Community College Sunday. The second-straight 2-0 win puts Tompkins Cortland's record at 6-4 overall and 6-3 in Region III. Jamestown is now 3-8-2 overall and 2-8 in Region III.

The scoring started with Colton Wigsten (Spencer-Van Etten H.S./Spencer) knocking in a pass from Randy Simon (AECI/Bronx) just 8:42 into the game. Adam Nichols (Candor H.S./Candor) made the score 2-0 just seconds later, and the defense, anchored by the goalie tandem of Jack English (Charles O. Dickerson H.S./Trumansburg) and Sean McDaniel (Dryden H.S./Dryden) secured the win with the team's fifth shutout of the year.

The Panthers continue the road trip Wednesday at Corning Community College.
