The Tompkins Cortland Community College men's soccer team posted its second straight shutout Saturday with a 2-0 blanking of Clinton Community College. The Panthers are now 3-1 overall and 3-0 in Region III. Clinton is 1-1 overall and in region.

Following up Wednesday's 8-0 win over Jefferson Community College, the Panthers wasted little time getting the scoring started. Barely two minutes into the game, Colton Wigsten (Spencer-Van Etten H.S./Spencer) beat the Clinton keeper on a free kick to make it 1-0. The Panthers had several chances to add to the lead, but it wasn't until late in the game that the second score came. With 11:20 left to play, the Clinton keeper was called for a foul in the box, giving the Panthers a penalty kick. Adam Nichols (Candor H.S./Candor) converted to give the home team some breathing room.

The 2-0 lead was more than enough, as the defense limited the Cougars to just one shot on goal. Keeper Sean McDaniel (Dryden H.S./Dryden) had one save to post a shutout in his first collegiate start in goal.

The Panthers are back at it Sunday with a home game against North Country Community College at noon.
