For the third straight year, and the fifth time in six years, the Tompkins Cortland Community College lacrosse team is heading to the NJCAA playoffs. The Panthers are the #6 seed in the Region III Tournament and will play at #3-seed Hudson Valley Community College on Wednesday, May 1.

This marks the third straight year the Panthers have played against the Vikings in the opening round of the playoffs. In the previous two meetings, Tompkins Cortland was the higher seed and hosted the Vikings, and both times the Panthers ended up winning close games. This time the Panthers enter as the #6 seed with a record of 2-6 while Hudson Valley is the #3 seed with a Region III record of 6-2. The two teams played earlier this year in Troy, with the Vikings winning 17-4. The victory on March 27 was the start of a six-game winning streak for the Vikings, a streak that was snapped in the regular season finale. The March 27 game also marked the end of string of seven straight wins for the Panthers over the Vikings, dating back five years.

The winner on Wednesday will advance to the District B Championship game against Genesee Community College on Saturday, May 4.
