Lead by tournament medalist Daniel Lapp (Trumansburg/Charles O. Dickerson H.S.), the Tompkins Cortland Community College golf team earned a second place finish in the Mid-State Athletic Conference championship, held in conjunction with the Onondaga Invitational Saturday at Timber Banks Golf Course in Baldwinsville. The Panthers took second place in the MSAC championship, carding a 351 to finish 11 strokes behind Onondaga. The 11-team invitational was won by Niagara County Community College with a team score of 322.
Lapp took medalist honors with a 75, the best of the 59 male golfers in the field. Tyler Clark (Odessa-Montour H.S./Odessa) was second on the team with an 87, followed by Jake Woods (Cortland/Cortland H.S.) at 94 and Sean McDaniel (Dryden/Dryden H.S.) at 95. William Stouffer (Candor/Candor H.S.) finished at 110 and Trevor Whittemore (Ithaca/Ithaca H.S.) had a 125.
The Panthers are scheduled to host the Panther Invitational Sunday at Elm Tree Golf Course in Cortland.
