Both Panthers Basketball Teams Qualify for Playoffs

Men's basketball team huddle

For the first time in ten years, both Tompkins Cortland Community College basketball teams have qualified for the postseason in the same year. The men are the #9 seed and will play at #8 seed SUNY Adirondack Sunday. The women's team was awarded the #8 seed in the upcoming NJCAA Region 3 tournament and play Wednesday at top-seeded Fulton-Montgomery Community College.

The men earned a playoff spot for the second straight year after a lengthy absence from the postseason. The Panthers finished the regular season with a record of 12-10 in regional games. Adirondack also went 12-10 in region, but earned the higher seed on the strength of their 80-69 win in Dryden on January 14.

The Tompkins Cortland women are back in the playoffs for the first time since 2019. The Panthers have a Region 3 record of 6-9 and have the task of playing the top team in the Region, 15-0 Fulton-Montgomery in Johnstown.
