Needing a win to keep their hopes of making the Mid-State Athletic Conference alive, the Tompkins Cortland Community College men's basketball team fell victim to a buzzer-beating three-pointer that gave Jefferson Community College a 71-70 win over the Panthers. The win keeps Jefferson's playoff hopes alive, but eliminates Tompkins Cortland from contention. The Panthers end their conference season with a record of 3-9. With one non-conference game left, the Panthers are 7-14 overall. Jefferson is 4-7 in conference and 6-19 overall.

The Panthers held a 33-31 lead at the half, and held that lead for nearly the entire second half. A late rally brought the Cannoneers back and with 0.6 seconds left on the clock, a deep three-pointer put the home team in front for good at 71-70.

Four Panthers scored in double figures, led by sophomore Shareef Ali (Queens/Martin Van Buren H.S.) with 18 points. Derek Brower (Queens/Half Hollow Hills West H.S.) had 16 points, Jaiden Allen (Marlboro/Marlboro H.S.) had 12, and Garrick Averett (Hempstead/Hempstead H.S.) chipped in 10 points.

The Panthers close out the season Wednesday at North Country Community College.
