Panthers Men Overwhelmed at Conference Leader

The team leading the Mid-State Athletic Conference standings showed why they are on the top Wednesday. Corning Community College dominated the entire way in beating Tompkins Cortland Community College 98-58. The loss snaps a two-game winning streak for the Panthers and leaves them with a record of 6-11 overall and 3-6 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference. Corning improves to 14-6 overall and 8-1 in the MSAC.

The game was decided in the first half, with the Red Barons racing to a 47-17 lead at the half. A high-scoring second half saw the Panthers score 41 but give up 51, making the final margin a 40-point loss for Tompkins Cortland.

Devonte Henry (Brooklyn/Boys and Girls H.S.) led the Panthers with 13 points, with Derek Brower (Queens/Half Hollow Hills West H.S.) and Garrick Averett (Hempstead/Hempstead H.S.) each put up 10 points.

 The Panthers are home Saturday for a non-conference games against SUNY Adirondack.
