Tompkins Cortland Community College hosted a Mid-State Athletic Conference doubleheader against Finger Lakes Community College on Tuesday. The Panthers dropped both games to fall to 8-28 overall and 5-15 in the MSAC. Finger Lakes moves to 30-16 overall and 13-6 in conference.
Game One: Finger Lakes 12, Tompkins Cortland 0
The visiting Lakers set the tone early, leading the game off with a home run and following that with another homer later in the first inning. The margin was 3-0 through the first three innings before the Lakers added another three runs in fourth and then put the game away with six runs in the seventh.
The Panthers totaled three hits in the opener, with Keelan Marren (Skaneateles/Skaneateles H.S.) knocking a double for the lone extra-base hit.
Game Two: Finger Lakes 8, Tompkins Cortland 3 5 innings
Game two featured a lengthy delay for lightning and then was called after five innings due to the weather. Each team scored a single run in each of the first two innings, but Finger Lakes plated four in the fourth to create a gab. After the Panthers scored one in the bottom of the inning, Finger Lakes put two more on the board in the fifth to provide the final margin.
For the second straight game, the Panthers had just three hits. Marren again led the offense in game two, collecting two of the team's three hits.
