In recognition of his hard work and hustle, Garrick Averett (Hempstead/Hempstead H.S.) is the Panthers Athlete of the Week.
In Wednesday's hard-fought win over Cayuga, Averett provided both a spark and composure while playing key minutes off the bench. He finished that game with 15 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 points in just 19 minutes of play. Those numbers earned him a start on Saturday against Finger Lakes, and the freshman responded with 14 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and a steal.
